Flatplans

Both of these pages are very dull and boring. But it does have the same colour theme of a mainly white background with black text. I have used the same layout for both pages with my real magazine cover and contents.
I have used bold fonts on my cover and contents, which i have not really done here.

Jake Baldwin- Magazine cover

I think my front cover was successful because i like the effect i have got on the photo. I like the bold fonts i have got and the simple effect i have got with both pages by just using black and white. The picture fits on the page well, even though there is not much on the page, it still looks slightly busy. The contents page is slightly dull but it does fit with my front cover, with the idea of just black and white. It is also very basic but I think it works. If i would change it and start again i would still try to use bold fonts but i would put a bit more live into it and colour to appeal to the audience a little bit more.
I asked a few people what they thought.
Dan Crowley: I think that it works as a student magazine because i like the sketchy unfinished effect. Also the simplicity in the black and white colour's.
Niall Bernie: I like the black and white theme, very simple but effective.
Fred Lack: I like the guy in it, pritty cool. I like the title font and the positioning of the text around the picture.

Photographs

I have chosen the picture with Fred's eyes open because he is looking directly at the camera, therefore communicating with the reader. With Fred's eyes closed their is no communication, and obviously it does not look as good. The background for both pictures are the same, a neutral, white background with nothing too eye catching. With the on the left Fred is slightly slanted and is lop sided which is not the best shot, as his shoulders are at a different height. The shot i have chosen it level and Fred is standing up straight and everything seems a lot more level. The picture on the right appeals to the audience because it is a happy photo (smiling) and Fred is the age that the magazine is targeted at.
